Dengue fever is a severe viral infectious disease transmitted through mosquito bites. Dengue can cause headache, pain, fever and rash, and in some cases death.
The wife of the Ukrainian Ambassador to Brazil Andrey Melnyk and an employee of the embassy and his wife fell ill with Dengue fever. Svetlana Melnik reported this on her FB page.
“I have Dengue! Brazil is a country full of dangers. If a non-poisonous spider is thrown away, then a Dengue mosquito will bite. Just yesterday I was baking Easter cakes. And today I landed in the ambulance with a temperature below 40. It was a terrible condition, my whole body felt like it was turning upside down, my head was pounding. As soon as they inserted the IV, they did a blood test. And – unfortunately – they confirmed the diagnosis, ” the ambassador’s wife. said in a statement.
Svetlana Melnik reported that last week a diplomat from the German embassy died of Dengue, and another employee of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission also fell ill.
“One of our colleagues from our diplomatic mission was also struck by Dengue yesterday, along with his wife. Today the largest epidemic of Dengue in history is taking place in Brazil. The hospitals are crowded. We pray that there are no complications,” he added.
Let’s remember that last year the WHO announced the risk of rapid spread of dengue fever in the United States, Southern Europe and Africa this decade.
In Argentina, 29 people died from dengue fever, and Puerto Rico declared a state of emergency due to dengue fever.
