For more than a year, the enemy has been trying to build a railway connection that could connect Russian territory with Ukrainian TOTs. This process is almost complete. In the future, this railway could pose a serious problem for Ukraine. The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, stated this during the telethon.
However, the head of Ukrainian military intelligence believes that the Ukrainian Defense Forces can cope with the land part of the railway that the Russians are building. This structure will be easier to destroy than the Crimean Bridge.
We have experience in this, and it is much easier than the issue of the Crimean Bridge,” he emphasized.
Let us recall that in September 2023 it became known that the Russian invaders began to build a new railway in the temporarily occupied Donbass. The enemy is constructing a direct railway connection with Mariupol, Volnovakha and Donetsk and, if successful, will be able to include the existing Mariupol-Aslanovo-Kalchik-Volnovakha branch into direct communication with the Russian cities of Taganrog and Rostov-on-Don.
In January of this year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the area where the invaders’ engineering units were based in the Mariupol region, which were building a railway bridge.
