According to the rules of Ukrzaliznytsia, only a purchased compartment allows travel with a dog taller than 45 centimeters.
Ukrzaliznytsia, together with the Ukrainian animal and environmental rescue organization UAnimals, will develop updated rules for transporting animals on trains. This was announced on Saturday, March 30, on the Instagram page of the Ukrainian animal and environmental rescue organization UAnimals.
“Together we will update some outdated points of the train travel rules to make them more inclusive for people with animals. We will organize a social campaign to encourage passengers without animal passengers to treat animals more humanely,” UAnimals wrote.
They mentioned that the rules are there to be followed, but sometimes reality forces one to examine the rules.
“We will keep you informed about further steps in this story,” the organization added.
Specifically, what rules do rail workers currently follow:
-
Large breed dogs (above 45 cm at the withers) with a muzzle and a leash (chain or belt) are transported in a separate compartment of a car compartment for no more than two individuals. In this case, the passenger is obliged to pay the cost of the travel documents according to the number of unoccupied seats in the compartment during the entire fare.
-
The passenger has the right to transport small pets that do not pose a threat to others (small breed dogs, cats, birds, etc.) in trains and carriages of all categories (except carriages of types SV and M) on special means of transportation (container, carrier, etc.)).
-
On regional trains, dogs of large breeds (more than 45 cm at the withers) are brought to the outer vestibules of the first and last cars under the supervision of an escort. Large breed dogs (more than 45 cm at the withers, no more than one) are carried with a muzzle and a leash (chain or belt).
The conductor of the Lviv-Zaporozhye train on Tuesday, March 5, refused to start boarding passengers, explaining that a man should enter the carriage first, and there are only women among the passengers.
Earlier, Czech railway operator RegioJet announced that from March 27 it will launch a second route to Ukraine via Slovakia to Chop in addition to the existing one via Polish Przemysl
Remind us that Ukrzaliznytsia has opened online sales of tickets in Austria, which can be purchased in the UZ application through Diyu. Signatures and international ticket offices at train stations.
