The main reason was the lack of sufficient generating capacity after the Russian strike.
In Sumy, Poltava and Donetsk regions, emergency shutdown schedules were introduced during peak consumption at night. Ukrenergo reported this on Friday, March 29.
“The main reason is the lack of sufficient generating capacity in the system to cover consumption in some regions of the country as a result of a massive overnight Russian attack on power plants in Ukraine,” the statement said.
In addition, energy supply restrictions continue to apply in the Kharkov and Krivoy Rog regions.
“We also ask consumers in other regions to consume electricity sparingly,” urged Ukrenergo.
We remind you that emergency shutdowns have been applied in Dnepropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, and Kirovograd regions.
As you know, on the night of March 29, Russian troops attacked energy facilities in six regions of Ukraine. As a result of the shelling, thermal and hydroelectric power plants were damaged in the central and western regions.
Air defense forces destroyed 84 enemy targets. In total, the enemy used 99 air attack weapons.
