City Mayor Igor Terekhov announced this on Thursday, March 28, during a national telethon.
Thanks to our power engineers and utility workers, who worked around the clock, we were able to partially restore power supply. But the situation is very tense and complex. There are blackouts in all areas of Kharkov. There is a schedule where failures occur, because it does not depend on us. The blackout periods are about six hours,” noted Igor Terekhov.
In the Kharkov metro, train arrival intervals have been reduced since March 28. As the company reported, from 5:30 on all subway lines they are 10 minutes.
From 19:00, train service intervals will be increased to 20 minutes.
19 residential buildings were damaged as a result of enemy attacks in Kharkov, which were carried out by the Russian aggressor on March 27-28, Terekhov said. The destruction of buildings was recorded in the Shevchenko and Kiev districts. Restoration work continues.
We are working in two locations – where the Russians struck yesterday with a new type of weapon, and at the site of the night arrival, where residential buildings were also damaged and a restaurant was practically destroyed. Our utility workers worked until late at night and today continued from the very morning. We are now working to restore electricity, water and gas supplies to these houses,” the mayor said.
The day before, a man was killed as a result of shelling in the center of Kharkov. Another 19 people were injured, four of them were children. Everyone who needed it was housed in city dormitories.
