The Ukrainian side and allies are counting on the fact that the appearance of modern American fighters at the front will help Ukraine destroy the aggressor.
Ukraine must receive Western F-16 fighters according to previously established plans and schedules. This was said on Wednesday, March 28, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba in an online briefing for the world media on March 27, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
“At first it was planned that F-16s would appear in the skies of Ukraine in the middle of summer. Now everything is going according to plan. However, of course, this is a very complicated and confusing issue, so you can’t know how things can change. But now the schedule is as follows,” said Kuleba.
The minister noted that, according to his data, pilot training is going well.
He emphasized the important role and efforts of partners to help train Ukrainian pilots and engineers.
“Of course, more training will be required, not only for pilots, but also for engineers and technical personnel, since the transition from Soviet-type aircraft to Western-type aircraft requires serious changes in everything, in education, logistics, air combat. philosophy,” added the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
It was previously reported that Denmark will supply Ukraine with 19 F-16 fighters. Overall, the country now has 44 F-16 aircraft, but for security reasons it has not said how many are in service.
In early January, the Danish publication Berlingske reported that the delivery of F-16 fighters to Ukraine had been delayed by about six months.
