During the latest attacks on Ukraine, the Russian army could have used Zircon hypersonic anti-ship missiles.

A research think tank is currently determining whether these missiles were actually used. Speaker of the Ukrainian Air Force Ilya Yevlash stated this today, March 27, on Radio Liberty.
According to him, Russia’s possible use of Zircon hypersonic missiles could mean that it has a shortage of other types of missiles.
The fact that they use them most likely indicates that they already have a shortage of weapons, otherwise they would not use them,” Yevlash emphasized.
He noted that Zircons are anti-ship missiles and are used only in isolated cases. Yevlash noted that this is a rather complex and expensive rocket.
If they, for example, had enough other types of missiles – Kalibr, Iskander cruise missiles, other missiles – they would use them, he emphasized.
Also, in this way the Russian army can check the Ukrainian air defense system, Yevlash noted.
This could also be a certain experiment – to check our air defense system, where, what and how is protected, what is covered, in order to use this in the future when planning their subsequent air attacks,” noted the representative of the Air Force.
