Eyewitnesses counted several dozen drones and more than ten explosions.
Power outages were also reported. Firefighters and ambulances rushed to the scene.
“Eyewitnesses reported that smoke was visible in the area of the Novocherkassk State District Power Plant. Emergency services arrived at the scene,” a local public report said.
Emergency service workers were also quoted as saying that no explosions or fires were recorded at ground-based facilities.
Later, RosSMI, citing the governor of the Rostov region, reported that two power units of the Novocherkassk State District Power Plant were temporarily taken out of service after the fire. According to the official, the cause of the fire is being investigated. It was also reported that due to the fire at the substation, two high-voltage lines were shut down, but the supply of electricity to consumers was said to have continued.
