The Russian missile violated Polish airspace and remained there for 39 seconds. The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported this online X on Sunday, March 24.
“We inform you that at 04:23 (at 5:23 Kiev time – ed.) there was a violation of Polish airspace by one of the cruise missiles launched that night by long-range aviation aircraft of the Russian Federation. The targets of the attacks were cities in western Ukraine. The object entered the Polish space near the village of Oserdów (Lublin Voivodeship) and stayed here for 39 seconds.
It was noted that all necessary procedures have been introduced to ensure the safety of Polish airspace. In particular, Polish and allied aviation was activated.
It is emphasized that the Polish army is constantly monitoring the situation on the territory of Ukraine and remains in constant readiness to ensure the security of Polish airspace.
In this regard, the head of the Presidential Bureau of National Security of Poland, Jacek Severa, wrote on the social network X that President Andrzej Duda, as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Armed Forces, was informed about this incident. NATO allies have also been informed.
We remind you that on the night of March 24, an air raid alert was announced throughout Ukraine. 14 TU-95MS bombers – carriers of cruise missiles – took off. After a while, Kyiv residents heard explosions. The enemy also tried to attack the western regions of Ukraine.
Later, the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported shooting down 43 enemy targets. In total, the enemy used 29 missiles and 28 drones.
