The most difficult situation today is in the Kharkov region. There may be hourly outages to stabilize power.
Ukraine’s energy sector suffered $11.5 billion in damage due to Russian attacks. Deputy Minister of Energy Svetlana Grinchuk announced this on Saturday, March 23, during a marathon broadcast.
He emphasized that this is not a final figure, as it does not include losses from Russia’s latest attack on energy facilities.
“We actively cooperated with the World Bank, which conducted a global study of the damage to the energy sector as a result of the attacks. And during the war, not taking into account the last attack, it was 11.5 billion dollars. I think this is the last The attack is also estimated at large amounts, maybe billions of dollars, because a lot of damage was caused,” said Grinchuk.
He emphasized that the Russian attack on March 22 was one of the largest in the war.
“Many facilities were attacked and damaged throughout Ukraine. These include generation facilities and distribution system facilities, electricity transmission systems. About one million consumers were left without electricity,” said deputy minister
Grinchuk said that the most difficult situation with electricity supply is in the Kharkov region.
“In Kharkov and the Kharkov region, where the damage is so great and it is impossible to quickly restore electricity. Now we are clearing the rubble, assessing the possibility of repair and replacement of equipment, we are looking for this equipment in all of Ukraine,” the deputy minister explained.
Let’s remember that on the night of March 22, Russia carried out the most powerful attack on the energy infrastructure of the region, firing more than 20 missiles. Due to the massive attack, Kharkov was completely powerless.
