Russian propagandists created a fake involving Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council Secretary Alexey Danilov to “convey” Ukraine’s alleged involvement in the terrorist attack on Crocus City near Moscow on March 22. The Center for Combating Disinformation (CDC) reported this on its Telegram channel on Saturday, March 23.

“Russian propagandists from the NTV channel published a deep fake of the Secretary of National Security and Defense of the Council of Ukraine Alexei Danilov, trying to convince that Ukraine was involved in the terrorist attack on March 22,” the report said.

In particular, to create it, they used the footage from the telethon on March 16, replacing the guest, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kirill Budanov, with a fake video with Alexey Danilov.

CPD states that the quality of the deepfake is very low, and its artificiality is immediately obvious. In particular, Alexey Danilov’s facial expressions and speech do not match. The Center called another fake Russian propagandist “a poor job.”

It should be noted that the Russian social networks today announced that the two suspects in the terrorist attack that happened in Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk near Moscow, imprisoned in the Bryansk region.
