In relation to a deputy of the regional council, who is suspected of extorting and accepting a bribe from a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the High Anti-Corruption Court applied a preventive measure in the form of detention. The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office reported this on March 22.
It was noted that the judge decided to take the defendant into custody in the courtroom. The preventive measure is valid until May 18 of this year.
Alternatively, the court set bail for the suspect in the amount of 155 thousand Hryvnia. When paying this amount, the representative will be assigned the corresponding procedural responsibilities.
It was previously reported that the military counterintelligence of the Security Service, together with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, exposed a representative of the Ternopil Regional Council of corruption, who requested kickbacks for the provision of material aid for the wounded soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
And in the Odessa region, a deputy of the Belgorod-Dnestrovsky district council was exposed, who demanded $20,000 from a businessman for help in solving the “land issue.”
