The head of state met with a high-ranking official of the North Atlantic Alliance on Thursday, March 21. Bauer visited Ukraine for the first time since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion. The President’s Office reported this.
Bankova reported that they discussed the priority defense needs of Ukraine and the need for additional air defense systems. Opportunities for strengthening NATO’s coordinating role in supporting Ukraine, in particular strengthening existing defense capabilities, as well as developing Ukraine’s future military capabilities in accordance with the standards and requirements of interoperability of the North Atlantic Alliance, were also discussed.
The support of NATO and NATO member states is very important. We count on fair assessments of our country’s achievements and the decisions of the Washington summit, which can bring Ukraine closer to membership in the Alliance,” Zelensky concluded.
Today, speaking at the Kiev Security Forum, Rob Bauer called for increased mobilization in Ukraine. He noted that convincing people to leave to fight is not easy, but it is necessary.
You don’t just need grenades, you need people to replace the dead and wounded. And this means mobilization,” he said.
The admiral also expressed confidence that there is every reason to be confident in Ukraine’s ability to succeed in a war with NATO support. He emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to radically change many aspects of modern warfare.
Let us recall that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, during a speech at the European Union summit, said that Ukraine currently does not have enough air defense systems to protect the entire territory from Russian shelling.
