For all of 2023, imports of goods in the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles category reached $441 million, or 0.7% of all imports.
Drones entered the top ten largest categories of Ukrainian imports. Ukraine imported $99 million worth of drones in January, accounting for 2% of all imports. This was reported by the Center for Economic Strategy (CES) in relation to data from the State Customs Service.
It is noted that 98% of drones (by value) are imported from China.
In monetary terms, imports of drones in January were reported to be nearly equal in volume to imports of smartphones ($114 million, or 2.2% of total imports).
According to CES estimates, for all of 2023, imports of goods in the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles category will reach $441 million, or 0.7% of all imports.

Let’s recall that last year the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine authorized the import of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) without providing letters of guarantee for the period of martial law.
It was also reported that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signed laws regarding exemption from VAT and duties on imports of copters, thermal imagers, collimators, walkie-talkies and night vision devices.
