Ukraine is in critical need of air defense equipment and artillery ammunition, the head of the Foreign Ministry said.
Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba spoke on the phone with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and expressed gratitude to the United States for the recent military aid package. Kuleba reported it on social networks X.
The minister said he noted the importance of expanding American as well as international aid to Ukraine, including air defense and artillery ammunition.
Diplomats also discussed additional ways to approve a critically needed support package from the United States.
“We cannot allow Russia to take advantage of delays in aid to move forward, putting all of Europe and the democratic world at risk of a larger war. Ukraine has repeatedly demonstrated in recent years that, with enough support, we can defeat Russia on the battlefield. Failure to continue to support Ukraine will seriously weaken the USA’s global leadership and jeopardize US national security,” Kuleba emphasized.
The diplomats also exchanged views on the expected outcome of the Washington NATO summit.
It was previously reported that the Republicans in Congress, instead of putting the Senate aid bill to Ukraine to a vote, decided to create an alternative bill in which part of the non-military aid is proposed to be allocated in the form of a loan However, a vote on this is not expected until April.
Meanwhile, the Democrats do not agree with this development of events and on March 12 began to collect signatures to introduce a $95 billion aid bill for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, which passed Speaker Mike Johnson. In the first two days, he collected 177 signatures out of 218 required. On the third day, not a single new signature appeared.
