The Russian military aircraft Il-76, which crashed the previous day in the Ivanovo region of the Russian Federation, crashed due to a technical engine malfunction. The VChK-OGPU Telegram channel claims to have official information from the security forces, which provides a chronology of the events of the accident.
“On March 12 at 12:34, the military transport aircraft Il-76 No. 551 took off from the Severny airfield. Almost immediately after takeoff, one of the aircraft’s engines caught fire. The ship’s crew decided to make a emergency landing ,” the report said.
This was noted during the landing approach at 11:44 in a forest belt located 1 km from the village. Bogorodskoye, Ivanovo district, an aircraft crashed followed by aviation fuel fire. The open burning area is approximately 300 square meters. There were seven crew members and nine passengers (all military personnel) on board the plane.
The initial cause of the plane crash was engine failure. At 15.15 on March 12, the search and rescue team found the bodies of 16 dead.
Meanwhile, the Shot Telegram channel published a video of the moment the plane crashed. It was noted that the last words of the crew, according to the source of the channel, was a report about the fire of the fourth engine and blades flying out of it, damaging the systems.
Judging by the video, before the crash, the plane with the burning engine hit the trees, which caused its nose to fall off and the plane to fall to the ground.
