Politico writes that the leaders of France, Germany and Poland will meet on Friday. The conversation will take place against the backdrop of disagreements that arose after Macron’s recent statements about the possibility of sending NATO troops to the territory of Ukraine.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk generally supported the position of the French leader, and the German Chancellor categorically rejected the possibility of sending military personnel to Germany. In addition, Scholz once again opposed the provision of long-range Taurus missiles to Kyiv, which Berlin’s allies insist on.
Macron is expected to arrive in Berlin around noon on Friday for a bilateral conversation with Scholz. This will be followed by a three-way discussion with Tusk.
A senior German official said that “no concrete decisions or announcements” are expected from these talks. According to him, the purpose of the meeting is to “send a signal of unity.”
Earlier, Bloomberg noted in its material that relations between Macron and Scholz have deteriorated and this is harming Ukraine.
