The French President has postponed his visit for the third time since February.
The postponement came days after a Russian missile missed the Ukrainian president and Greek prime minister by hundreds of meters, crashing into port infrastructure in the Black Sea city of Odessa. Macron was also supposed to visit Odessa, writes Reuters.
Macron is now considering expanding the trip to include other Western heads of state, rather than being limited to a simple two-way trip.
French media spread information that the visit could be postponed due to “security issues.” At the same time, Politico, citing a source, writes that the visit was postponed because Macron wants to communicate with allies and come to Ukraine “with tangible results.”
As the Elysee Palace noted, there are no concerns from a security point of view, but Macron wants to take time to negotiate with allies and create coalitions in order to come to Ukraine with “tangible results.”
