The French leader’s visit was postponed a few days after the Odessa shooting during a visit by Vladimir Zelensky and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, sources said.
French President Emmanuel Macron has postponed his visit to Ukraine three times. Now it should take place in the coming weeks, Reuters reported on Monday, March 11.
As the agency recalls, Macron first said he plans to sign a bilateral security agreement with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in February. This trip has been postponed. In the end, Zelensky arrived in Paris to conclude an agreement.
Diplomats quoted by Reuters said a second date was planned for early March. It was pushed back to later this week, but later the dates changed again.
“The presidents of the two states agreed to maintain close contact, especially regarding the president’s visit to Ukraine, which will take place in the coming weeks,” the French president said after a conversation on the phone between the two leaders.
It was noted that this visit was postponed a few days after Odessa shelled out the visit of Zelensky and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
“Macron should also visit Odessa,” the journalists wrote.
Two diplomatic sources said the French president is considering expanding the trip to include other Western heads of state joining him instead of just a two-way trip to show solidarity with allies and solidarity with Ukraine .
We remind you that on March 10, Zelensky had a telephone conversation with Macron. The heads of state, among other things, discussed their upcoming meeting in Ukraine.
