The collection for ammunition was closed by Norway, which provided the funds on March 7. 18 countries participated in the program.
The Allies have already collected all the necessary funds for the purchase of artillery ammunition for the Ukrainian Armed Forces within the framework of the Czech initiative. Czech President Petr Pavel spoke about this on Thursday, March 7, in a commentary to Ceske Noviny.
According to him, 18 countries took part in the program, and the ammunition will arrive in Ukraine “in the coming weeks.”
“So far, we have received the amount for the purchase of all ammunition, that is, 800 thousand units. The Czech side will inform all participating countries about the schedule and how we will proceed,” said Pavel.
At the same time, he did not reveal the amounts allocated by the European states, but mentioned that the collection for ammunition was closed by Norway, which provided the funds on March 7.
“Now the whole process depends only on the skills of our companies and the Ministry of Defense,” Pavel added.
Let’s recall that Norway reported that it allocated $150 million for the purchase of artillery ammunition for Ukraine as part of the Czech initiative.
Earlier, Czech President Petr Pavel said that his country had found 800 thousand shells that could be bought for Ukraine. According to him, the shells can be delivered in a few weeks, but this requires additional funds.
