This was announced today, March 7, by British Defense Minister Grant Shepps during a meeting with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Kyiv, according to the British government website.
The investment, which will deliver more than 10,000 drones to Ukraine’s Armed Forces, will leverage the UK’s leading defense businesses to provide Ukraine with new, cutting-edge drone technology throughout 2024, it said.
It is noted that most of these drones will be first-person view drones (FPV drones). There are plans to supply 1,000 one-way attack drones, researched and developed in the UK, as well as reconnaissance and maritime drones.
I am reinforcing our commitment to equip Ukraine with the most advanced new drones, sourced directly from the UK’s leading defense companies – from the factory floor to the front line. I encourage international partners to join the UK in these efforts,” Shepps said.
According to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are using weapons provided by Great Britain with unprecedented efficiency, which made it possible to destroy almost 30% of the Russian Black Sea fleet.
