Conscripts called up for military service before the start of the war will be sent to the reserves in April.
President Vladimir Zelensky signed an order on the transfer of conscripts to the reserve. This was reported by the press service of the head of state on Thursday, March 7.
According to the text of the document, military personnel whose military service has expired during martial law must be transferred to the reserve in April-May 2024.
Zelensky instructed the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure to ensure, at the request of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of the Interior, the transportation of conscripts in compliance with safety requirements and payments for transportation this in accordance with the current tariffs.
In an evening video message, the president said conscripts who were called up for military service before the full Russian invasion and who are still fighting will be sent to the reserves starting in April.
“There is an order on the transfer to the reserve of conscripts – those who are called for military service even before the start of a mass invasion. Now, at the request of the military command, several weeks are required for preparatory procedures, to replace people from the point of view of defense affairs. And from April, conscripts will be sent as a reserve,” said Zelensky.
The head of state added that some of them have signed contracts to serve in the Defense Forces.
We remind you that on February 23, the Verkhovna Rada supported the bill on the demobilization of conscripts.
On February 12, Zelensky signed laws extending general mobilization and martial law in Ukraine for 90 days, until May 13, 2024.
