In Karelia, the FSB neutralized a Belarusian citizen allegedly recruited by Ukrainian special services who were preparing a terrorist attack. This was reported by RosSMI.
According to the intelligence service, the recruited citizen of Belarus, born in 1974, is a member of the nationalist formation Kastus Kalinovsky Regiment, which is banned in the republic, and is on the interstate wanted list.
It was noted that “an agent of the Ukrainian special services collected and sent information about transport infrastructure facilities and regional executive authorities.”
“Acting on the instructions of the curators, the object removed weapons and an improvised explosive device from a cache previously equipped for it with the intention of blowing up one of the administrative buildings in the city of Olonets,” said the DSP.
They added that during the arrest, the defendant fired from a gun at the security officers, “and he was neutralized in a military encounter.”
No security personnel or civilians were hurt.
A ready-to-use improvised explosive device made of RE-8 plastic explosive (made in the UK), an M-6 electric detonator (made in the USA) and a household timer, a Makarov pistol and ammunition were seized at the scene of the incident.
We remind you that the Russian FSB reported the detention of a man who, “on instructions from the special services of Ukraine,” planted explosives under the car of a law enforcement officer in town of Lobnya near Moscow.
Earlier, the Russian Federation announced that it had foiled a terrorist attack against a “representative of the authorities” in Crimea.
