The fire at Kyiv’s Osokorkovsky Lakes, which occurred on the evening of March 5, attracted the attention of law enforcement officers.

Law enforcement officers opened criminal proceedings under the article on the deliberate destruction or damage of territories taken under state protection and objects of natural reserves, which entailed grave consequences (Part 2 of Article 252 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Investigators are determining the cause of the fire, those involved in the fire, and the amount of damage caused. Those found guilty face up to 12 years in prison. This was reported to the Kyiv police.
The State Emergency Service reported that a fire on the territory of the Osokorki eco-park near Lake Tyaglee occurred on the evening of March 5. The grass flooring and reeds caught fire, and the fire area was about 3 hectares. The fire was extinguished at 23.57.
The Ecopark Conservation Initiative said that the fire started in the area adjacent to the Stolitsa Group development. The society claims that the fire was caused by arson. In February, activists claimed that the Stolitsa Group company began destroying forest in the area of Lake Nebrezh.
