The President spoke via video link at the summit of the Trimorya project, calling on Ukraine to join it.
Ukraine should join the Trimorie project, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky said while speaking at the project’s summit on Monday, June 20.
“Ukraine should be a member of the Three Seas Initiative. It is not right that our country is outside of this very good initiative,” he said.
Zelensky proposed to strengthen the interpretation of cooperation within Trimorye, emphasizing the importance of logistics.
“The states of Trimoria are our connection to the independent world. The supply of weapons to Ukraine, the supply of fuel, traffic flow, green corridors for the export of Ukrainian food, the migration of people – all it works through the territory of the states participating in this initiative, ”the president said.
Zelensky addressed the topic of energy, recalling the largest underground gas storage facility in Europe.
“Using the capabilities of Poland-Slovakia, Poland-Ukraine interconnectors, we can meet the needs of all countries in the Trimorye region. Our electricity exports can be our contribution to the energy balance of your countries .And it will help you be free from Russia’s energy pressure, ”he stressed.
The President of Ukraine noted that “we must do everything so that the trans-European corridor Via Carpathia works 100%, uniting Northern and Southern Europe.”
He also mentioned the possibility of Ukraine to play the role of one of the logistics centers. “We can join Via Carpathia today,” he said.
“We must work on expanding checkpoints on Ukraine’s borders, we can provide support for many infrastructure projects in the field of digitalization, and strengthen our digital relations in the region,” Zelensky said.
He called on project members to take part in the restoration of Ukraine as “the biggest project of our generation.”
As you know, the Trimorie project, or the Baltic-Adriatic-Black Sea Initiative, involves 12 EU countries from Central and Eastern Europe.
On the eve of Zelensky said that Ukrainians are waiting for the most important week since 1991 – the European Council will decide on Ukraine’s candidacy for membership in the European Union.
