The fact that the defendants “knocked out” almost a million in hryvnia equivalent from a local businessman is documented.
Law enforcement officials have neutralized a criminal group that threatens businessmen in the Dnepropetrovsk region. The SBU reported this on March 5.
It was noted that the defendants demanded money from representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises for “unhindered” economic activity in the front-line region. The weekly amount depends on the scope of the business, its size and profitability.
If the racketeers refused to pay, they began to threaten physical violence and “slow” death. If that doesn’t work, they kidnap the victims, take them to a deserted area and beat them. They also threatened to “confiscate” the victims’ private property and kill their families.
The fact that the defendants “knocked out” almost a million in hryvnia equivalent from a local businessman is documented.
The defendants took the man outside the regional center, and then put him in a car and threatened him with physical harm if he “didn’t pay.”
SBU officials detained the racketeers after receiving the first part of a non-existent loan in the amount of 100 thousand UAH. The gang leader tried to hide from law enforcement officials after arresting his accomplices, but he failed. The SBU found him and detained him.
According to the investigation, the members of the group were in the sphere of influence of a known crime boss and placed themselves as “wings of power” in his criminal hierarchy.
During the searches, mobile phones and rough notes containing evidence of illegal activities were confiscated. Money allegedly obtained through criminal means was also found.
Currently, the organizer of the gang and two of its active members have been reported on suspicion of extortion by an organized group under martial law. They are in custody. Efforts are ongoing to arrest and bring to justice all persons involved in the group’s activities. The perpetrators face up to 12 years in prison.
We remind you that in the Nikolaev region a man is in prison who kidnapped a child.
It was also reported that a deputy was detained in the Zhytomyr region for kidnapping people and “extorting” money.
