Macron again commented on his resounding statement about the possible deployment of Western troops in Ukraine.
French President Emmanuel Macron said there will be no deployment of French forces in Ukraine. He said this in an interview with the Czech portal Novinky and Pravo.cz.
Macron recalled that he mentioned sending troops at a meeting with representatives of more than 20 states in Paris in response to a question being posed and at that moment only said that “nothing can be denied.”
“This does not mean that the possibility of sending French troops to Ukraine in the near future is being considered, but at the same time it means that a discussion is starting on this issue and that it is necessary to think about what else can be done. to support Ukraine, especially on Ukrainian territory,” Macron said.
He noted that the meeting participants identified five areas where they want to do more: cyber defense, joint production of military equipment with Ukraine, the security of countries threatened by Russia’s offensive in Ukraine, especially that of Moldova, the opportunity to support Ukraine on the border with Belarus and mine clearance operations.
“Moreover, I have always clearly defined the framework in which we operate: we do not engage in confrontation with the Russian people and do not use escalation,” Macron stressed.
We remind you that the French Foreign Ministry has announced that they will not send troops to Ukraine.
