Control of the Taurus missiles can only be ensured by the German military, says Olaf Scholz.
If it is necessary to attract German soldiers to operate long-range Taurus cruise missiles, Ukraine will not receive these weapons. This statement was made by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, reports The Guardian on Monday, March 4.
“You can’t put in a weapon system that has a very wide range and then not think about how you can control the weapon system,” he said.
“And if you want to have control, and this is possible only with the participation of German soldiers, for me it is out of the question,” added the chancellor.
We remind you that on February 22, the German parliament decided to recommend that the German government provide Ukraine with long-term weapons. Now the decision is up to the chancellor.
In turn, Olaf Scholz said last week that Germany is not transferring Taurus missiles to Ukraine, because they could hit targets in Moscow.
As is known, Ukraine has been calling Germany since last year to start supplying Taurus long-range missiles. German company Taurus Systems GmbH said it could launch new production of Taurus missiles soon.
