The Russian army began to protect its air defense systems with so-called barbecues.

In particular, the occupiers decided to protect the elements of the Buk anti-aircraft missile system with an anti-drone “barbecue” on the missiles. Armored vehicles researcher Andrei Tarasenko reported this on March 3 on Telegram.
The specialist published a video showing the 9A39 launcher-loader from the Buk complex, the missiles of which are covered with a “barbecue” along almost their entire length.
The publication “Military” suggests that such a design can save missiles from UAVs that use “drops” to hit targets. However, the “barbecue” will be in vain from the attacks of kamikaze drones carrying a warhead with an impact core or a cumulative effect.
Let us recall that at the beginning of August 2022, Russian social networks distributed a photo of the T-90M tank with the “Cape” complex and a section of mesh fence welded onto the turret (the so-called “barbecue” for protection against FGM-148 Javelin type ammunition that hits armored vehicles) hemisphere). However, in September 2023, the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed the Russian Proryv tank with the Cape complex in the Kharkov region.
