On the night of March 2, the enemy attacked the city and region with eight Shahed-type attack drones from the Black Sea. Air defense units intensively repelled this attack for an hour. The defenders managed to destroy seven drones, but one drone, during maneuvers among residential areas, hit a nine-story building in Odessa. The Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine reported this on Telegram.
Due to a hit on a residential building, part of the high-rise building collapsed. The entire entrance was destroyed. The mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, reported on Telegram that there were two dead and seven wounded. There may still be people under the rubble; seven residents of the house are not in contact.
Also in the city, utility networks and a boiler room were damaged, and nearby houses were cut off from heating.
Another terrorist attack on a peacefully sleeping city. Densely populated area. It’s just terrible here. Rescuers, municipal and emergency services are on site. The debris is being cleared, the mayor noted.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that dog handlers were involved in the search. Police and State Emergency Service psychologists who provide psychological assistance on site, more than fifty people have already applied for it.
Heating points were also promptly deployed, because as a result of the shelling, dozens of apartment buildings were left without heat supply.
Let us remind you that on the night of March 1, the Russians sent four S-300 missiles at Konstantinovka. In the city, 18 buildings were damaged as a result of the attack – high-rise buildings, kindergartens, a hospital, a bakery and enterprise facilities. Fortunately, no one was hurt.
