Argentina handed over to Ukraine two Mi-171E helicopters, which the country had previously ordered from Russia.

    .

    The Financial Times reports this.

President Javier Miley has prioritized alliances with “freedom-defending countries” such as the United States, Israel, which he visited earlier this month, and Ukraine, to which he donated two Russian-made military helicopters, the newspaper said.

Let us recall that the beginning of consideration of the possibility of transferring these helicopters to Ukraine was reported in early December.

According to some reports, the United States proposed to include the residual value of the helicopters in the recalculation of the first payments for the purchase of F-16 fighter jets from the Danish arsenal by Buenos Aires.

Both helicopters, numbers H94 and H95, have been taken out of service. They have reached their resource limit before the scheduled major inspection.

A contract for the supply of two Russian Mi-171Es to Argentina was signed with Rosoboronexport at the end of August 2010 in Buenos Aires.

This is Argentina’s first purchase of Russian-made equipment. The sales value was estimated at 20 million euros, and the contract also included training for Argentine pilots and technicians.

The purchase included an option for three more cars, which was never implemented.

“Militarny” writes that the main task of the Mi-171E was to supply supplies to Argentine stations in Antarctica and perform search and rescue operations. For this purpose, both helicopters received a bright orange and white coloring and were equipped with rescue equipment.

The contract for scheduled maintenance work was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and then sanctions against Russia.
