A 23-year-old woman has asked a Florida judge to change the sentence for a woman who kidnapped her as a baby and raised her under false identification.
Kamia Mobli wrote a letter to Judge Marianne Aho of Duvall County requesting that Gloria Williams be reduced from 18 to nine years in prison with nine years probation. News4Jax.
At first, LetteraMobley said Williams was “my mother”.
“I had a good life; “And I was an independent, college-educated and deeply spiritual person thanks to what my mother gave me,” Mobley wrote. “I know very well how our lives were born, how they were and how my mother became a mother”.
Williams was abducted from Mobile University Medical Center, now Florida Jacksonville University School of Health, in 1998 just hours away from Mobile. Williams then picked up the cell phone under the name Alex Manigo.
In 2017, Mobley underwent a DNA test at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, which confirmed she was the same woman kidnapped in 1998.. Tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children also helped find the mafia.
Williams pleaded guilty in 2018 and was sentenced to 18 years in prison for kidnapping and five years in prison. ABC news.
Mobile met with his parents in 2017. He told the judge in a letter that “none of this changes the reality of the past, nor does it justify my mother’s actions.” He asked for “grace and mercy” in court because his mother needed him at home.
Williams also wrote a letter to Judge, outlining his upbringing as a model prisoner and the various community and faith programs he participated in.
“I did not receive any disciplinary reports and I maintained a satisfactory higher score on the Security and Penitentiary Department’s monthly work assignments,” Williams wrote.
Although Moble’s letter is dated September 30, 2021, both Moble and Williams ’letters were filed in December 2021 and were only filed together as part of Williams’ sentence reduction documentation.
Judge Aho has not yet made that decision.
