The self-proclaimed president of Belarus has announced his intention to remain as head of state for the next term.
The formal leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has announced his participation in the presidential elections in 2025. He said this after voting in parliamentary and local elections on Sunday, February 25, Belta reports.
“I’ll go, I’ll go, I’ll go. Tell them (the opposition – ed.) that I’m leaving! No responsible president will leave his people to follow him into battle . Therefore, the more they pressure you, me and the society, the faster I will go to these elections. Do not worry, we will do what is necessary for Belarus, “he told reporters.
According to Lukashenko, “nowhere in the world are there open, fair elections like in Belarus.”
“We have this holiday! We follow a sincere and honest policy! We need a quiet life and in its name we will do everything,” said the self-proclaimed president of Belarus.
Lukashenko is in his sixth term in power. If he runs in the 2025 presidential election, this will be his seventh campaign.
Let’s recall that Lukashenko previously said that oppositionists abroad are “preparing a coup d’état” in 2025. In addition, according to the formal leader of Belarus, the third world war is possible.
