An American congressman sent a letter to Musk, talking about the inactivity of satellite communications in Taiwan.
Elon Musk’s American company SpaceX may block satellite Internet in Taiwan. The Wall Street Journal reported this with reference to American Congressman Mike Gallagher.
The politician sent a letter to the businessman and owner of SpaceX, talking about the inactivity of satellite communications in Taiwan.
“SpaceX is likely to withdraw broadband internet services in Taiwan, possibly in violation of SpaceX’s contractual obligations with the US government,” he wrote in the letter, citing information provided by sources.
According to the newspaper, military Starshield satellites from SpaceX are used in Taiwan, providing services to intelligence and military agencies. The US government has invested more than $100 million in this project.
Gallagher is asking for more information about satellite operations on the island by March 8.
Let’s remember that in September 2023, CNN reported that Musk gave the order to disable the Starlink satellite communication network off the coast of Crimea in order to interrupt the attack that Ukraine is preparing against the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
Musk said the system was not turned on in place, and he rejected Ukraine’s request to activate it to avoid being complicit in an attack on the Russian fleet.
