At the end of May 2023, Ukraine turned to the German government with a request to provide Taurus cruise missiles with a range of up to 500 kilometers.
Discussions are still ongoing in Berlin on the issue of providing long-range missiles to Ukraine. German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock announced this on Saturday, February 25, during a visit to Odessa, Reuters wrote.
“Of course, everything we deliver is not enough. We’ve racked our brains, especially over the last year, about how to deliver more, including long-range weapons systems,” Burbock said.
It is known that on February 22, the Bundestag approved a resolution calling on the German government to provide long-range missiles to Ukraine. The document was supported by 382 deputies, 284 were against it, and two abstained. On the same day, the Bundestag rejected a resolution on the supply of Taurus long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine.
At the same time, the German company Taurus Systems GmbH said that they can quickly launch a new production of Taurus missiles, which Ukraine needs.
