The Security Service of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine organized an attack on the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant (NLMK) in the Russian city of Lipetsk. Interfax-Ukraine reported this with reference to a source in law enforcement agencies on Saturday, February 24.
It is indicated that we are talking about one of the largest metallurgical plants in Russia, which operates in the military-industrial complex of the aggressor country.
“Raw materials from this business are used in the production of Russian missiles, artillery, drones, etc. Therefore, this is a legitimate goal for Ukraine,” the source said.
SBU and GUR drones are said to have hit installations designed for primary cooling of raw coke oven gas. The loss of these items, according to sources, will lead to a shutdown of the entire production process of the metallurgical plant for a long time.
After the explosions at NLMK, a huge fire broke out and the plant personnel were evacuated.
It is known that the owner of the metallurgical plant is the Russian oligarch Vladimir Lisin, who is close to Vladimir Putin. He is one of the three richest people in Russia.
According to media reports, the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant produced raw materials for Russian companies involved in nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.
We remind you that on the night of February 24, a series of explosions occurred in the Russian city of Lipetsk. Judging by videos posted online, there were at least two drone strikes on the metallurgical plant.
At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the air defense forces allegedly “intercepted” two drones in the Lipetsk region.
