The corresponding video was released by the brigade’s press service.
And while the Russian occupiers are trying to understand where the Abrams tanks are, the tankers of a separate mechanized brigade have been dismantling the Russian invaders and their equipment into molecules for more than a month, the brigade said in a statement.
In the video you can see the presence of ARAT dynamic protection on combat vehicles. “Military” reported in January that the M1A1 SA tanks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are equipped with the M19 Abrams Reactive Armor Tile-1 (ARAT-1) dynamic protection kit.
By this time, the M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks supplied by the United States in a special SA (situational awareness) version were “glowing” without additional armor protection elements.
ARAT dynamic protection is included in the Tank Urban Survival Kit (TUSK), which was actively used by American tank crews during the campaign in Iraq.
The Abrams is the US main battle tank, in service since 1980.
It is very durable in battle, because all the ammunition is located outside the turret in a special rear niche. In case of defeat, the energy of the explosion goes up. And the powerful multi-layer armor makes the Abrams one of the most protected tanks in the world, wrote the 47th Brigade.
Such vehicles successfully experienced their baptism of fire in battles during the Gulf War in the early 90s, known as Operation Desert Storm.
Abrams tanks also helped US troops defeat Iraqi forces during the 2003 invasion of Iraq. They were also used in Afghanistan, where a Marine armored company received only one wound during combat operations, despite 19 explosions.
At the end of May 2023, 200 Ukrainian military personnel began training on M1 Abrams tanks at an American military base in Germany.
The training program involved not only training crews to operate tanks, but also training personnel to maintain these combat vehicles.
In early August, the United States officially approved the transfer of the first batch of Abrams tanks to Ukraine. The main training course for crews and technical personnel on these tanks was completed in August.
