The Indian government has responded to local media claims that around 100 Indians were recruited into the Russian army last year.

The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked Russia to early dismiss some Indians working in the Russian army in “auxiliary jobs.” It was reported by Reuters.

“We are aware that several Indian citizens have signed up for ‘support work’ with the Russian Army. The Indian Embassy is regularly reviewing this matter with the relevant Russian authorities for their speedy departure . We urge all citizens of India to exercise caution and stay away from this conflict,” the statement said.

The Indian ministry’s statement came after Indian newspaper The Hindu reported that around 100 Indians were hired by the Russian army last year on contracts lasting at least a year.

Let us recall that India resumed buying Russian Sokol oil after a two-month hiatus due to payment problems.
