The dismissal of the commander-in-chief and key leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a reboot, restructuring and change in the management of the military command. Zelensky announced this to American television viewers on the FoxNews channel.
According to him, the dismissal of Zaluzhny and his team does not imply “a change in the course of our actions.” Here we are talking only about “things that have not changed for a long time.”
We have to be faster, which means we have to cut through all the bureaucracy that we have. We have no other chance. We must be smart, technologically advanced and fast. Time is money, and in our case it is not money, but people’s lives,” he told Western media.
Zelensky also explained why he awarded the already former commander-in-chief the Hero of Ukraine award. He emphasized that the general “defended our nation and our country,” so he received this award because “I am very grateful to him for this.”
Let us recall that on February 8, President Vladimir Zelensky dismissed Valery Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The head of state appointed Alexander Syrsky to this place; before that, he was the commander of the Ground Forces.
The results of a survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology indicate that the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny has the highest level of trust in society – 94% of Ukrainians trust him, only 5% do not trust him.
And the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, is trusted by 40% of Ukrainians, but 35% had not heard of him until February.
