Foreigners who are legally present on the territory of Ukraine, have no criminal record and meet the requirements for military service defined by the Law of Ukraine “On Military Duty and Military Service”, can be taken on a voluntary basis (under contract) for military service in the National Guard of Ukraine .
Citizens of other countries can serve as privates, sergeants and petty officers.
They must contact the territorial center for recruitment and social support at their place of residence or directly to the military unit of the National Guard of Ukraine where they want to serve under a contract.
Women among foreigners can be recruited for military service under contract if there are vacant military positions that can be filled by military personnel.
Then foreigners must submit an application with a request to take them into military service under a contract, and also consent to the processing of personal data and to verification of the information they provide.
Relevant statements and consents can be submitted either in writing in paper form or in electronic format.
The hiring of foreigners takes place according to a standard procedure, including VLK, testing of physical and psychological qualities and the creation of a personal file, to which are attached:
- certificate from the military medical commission confirming suitability for military service;
- professional selection card;
- a certificate of the results of verification of the information submitted by the foreigner;
- a copy of a foreigner’s passport document or identity document confirming his special status, as well as a duly certified translation into Ukrainian of pages of such documents;
- information about the composition of the foreigner’s family and relatives;
- results of professional psychological testing of the candidate;
- physical fitness test results;
- information about labor activity on the territory of Ukraine (if available).
