Ukrainian grain can harm other EU countries, such as Germany, said Michal Kolodziejczak.
In Poland, no case has been identified where transit Ukrainian agricultural products will remain in the country. This was said by Poland’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Michal Kolodziejczak, farmer.pl reports on Wednesday, February 21.
“Wheat, corn, rapeseed – none of these products remain here,” he said, adding that in the past few weeks his department had received a message about the alleged reduction of Ukrainian products in Poland, which must pass through country.
“None of these reports have been confirmed,” Kolodziejczak admitted.
At the same time, he suggested that Ukrainian grain could harm other EU countries, such as Germany. In addition, Poland is losing its share in these markets.
“If I had protested today, I would have blocked the other border. And I would not give hints here. The embargo was imposed by Poland on products from Ukraine, which worries us the most. At the same time, we cannot help but look that the Germans are protesting the farmers in Germany saying that they also do not want the products coming from Ukraine. However, the government did not impose an embargo on these products. to us,” said the deputy minister.
In his opinion, the situation should be resolved by introducing quotas on goods exported to the EU from Ukraine and increasing their shipment to other countries of the world.
We remind you that on February 20, Polish farmers staged mass protests and blocked six checkpoints on the Ukrainian border. It was also learned that they intend to extend the promo until April.
The main demands of the protesters are a ban on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products, as well as a rejection of the EU’s Green Deal.
Earlier on Wednesday, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky appealed to Polish and EU authorities over the farmers’ protests.
