Szijjártó said that all elements of the 13th package of EU sanctions against Russia that “harm Hungarian interests” have been removed.
Hungary will not veto the 13th package of EU sanctions against Russia. This is what Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó said in a press conference on February 19.
According to him, all elements of the 13th package of EU sanctions against Russia that “harm Hungarian interests” have been removed, so Hungary will not oppose its approval.
At the same time, he ignored the usual criticism of EU policies.
“Hungary’s main economic interests are not affected by the specific measures in the list of sanctions, but the problem is bigger: the EU continues with a completely failed strategy that does not bring us closer to peace, but keeping us away from it,” Szijjártó said.
He added that the previous packages of sanctions only caused damage to the economy of the European Union, where “military psychosis still reigns,” although it is “clear” that the war in Ukraine will not end militarily.
We remind you that the media wrote that Hungary blocked the 13th package of sanctions against Russia.
As you know, EU countries plan to agree on the 13th package of sanctions on February 24 – the second anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
