Egypt rejects any forced or voluntary movement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip beyond its borders, especially into Egyptian territories.
The Egyptian government has denied information about the construction of a barrier fence on the southern border of the Gaza Strip and the construction of a shelter near it to accommodate Palestinians in case they are forced to flee as a result of intensified fighting. This was reported by Xinhua in relation to the head of Egypt’s State Information Service, Diaa Rashwan.
According to him, Egypt does not include any forced or voluntary movement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip beyond its borders, especially in Egyptian territories.
The official added that the expulsion of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip is a direct threat to Egypt’s sovereignty and national security.
“All the statements and comments of Egypt have clearly shown that this (the withdrawal of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip – ed.) is a red line, and Cairo has the means to deal with it immediately and effectively,” said Rashwan.
He also denied reports in some international media that Egypt had started a separation wall on its border with the Gaza Strip, saying that Egypt had a buffer zone and fences in the region even before the current Gaza crisis erupted.
Let’s remember that the media wrote that Egypt began to build a protective wall on the border of the Gaza Strip, which should protect the country from refugees leaving the enclave due to the Israeli military operation against Hamas.
