Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said Putin had only two options: in the dock at The Hague or be killed by one of his henchmen. He said this in his speech at the Munich Security Conference on February 17.
“One of the international institutions may have different views, but the arrest warrant of the International Criminal Court for Putin for the kidnapping and forced deportation of children from Ukraine clearly shows where the race should end by Putin. He has only two options ahead of him: be in the dock in The Hague or have one of his henchmen killed,” Zelensky said.
The President emphasized that Putin’s years of self-isolation and impunity led to his complete breakdown.
“He is now openly justifying Hitler, saying that he was not to blame for the Second World War. He committed genocide of people as a normal part of his policy,” the head of state said.
He added that Putin kills whoever he wants, be it an opposition leader or someone he sees as a target.
Therefore, according to Zelensky, after the murder of the Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny, it would be absurd to think of Putin as the legitimate head of the Russian state.
“He is a thug who holds power because of corruption and violence. Coming to his so-called inauguration, shaking hands, treating him as an equal would be an affront to the nature of political power,” the Ukrainian president said.
Let’s remember that Zelensky blamed Putin for the death of Navalny, who died in the IK-3 Polar Wolf in the village of Kharp in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug of the Russian Federation.
