The Ukrainian and French sides signed an agreement on security guarantees on Friday, February 16. It is valid for ten years. This was said by French President Emmanuel Macron at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart, Vladimir Zelensky.
“I want to make sure that France is ready for long-term support. We signed an agreement for 10 years, which will be valid until Ukraine joins NATO,” said the French leader.
He also added that Paris has also pledged to contribute an additional 6 billion euros for military needs. This aid should strengthen Ukraine’s ability to defend itself.
According to him, France will continue to support Ukraine in the fields of providing equipment, military training and helping civilians.
He also added that the country is ready to strengthen its defense industrial base in favor of European defense.
