The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces published operational information about the Russian invasion on Friday evening, February 16.
“During the day, 70 military clashes took place. In total, the enemy launched eight missiles and 49 air strikes, carried out 84 attacks from multiple launch rocket systems on the positions of our troops and populated area. As a result of the Russian terrorist attack, unfortunately, there are wounded and dead civilian population. Multi-storey and private houses, medical institutions, as well as critical infrastructure facilities were destroyed and damaged,” the General Staff report said.
In the direction of Liman, the defenders of Ukraine repelled eight attacks near the settlements of Terny, Yampolevka, Torskoye in the Donetsk region and Belogorivka in the Luhansk region, where the enemy tried to break the defenses of our troops.
In the direction of Bakhmut, the Defense Forces repelled five attacks near Bogdanovka, Ivanovsky, Andreevka, Donetsk region, where the enemy, with aviation support, tried to improve the tactical situation.
In the direction of Avdeevka, our defenders repelled 27 attacks in the Avdeevka area and two more attacks near Pervomaisky and Nevelskoye, Donetsk region, where the enemy, with aviation support, continued trying to get Avdeevka.
In the Maryinsky direction, the Defense Forces continue to contain the enemy near Georgievka, Novomikhailovka, Donetsk region. Here, the invaders tried seven times to break the defenses of our troops.
In the direction of Kherson, the enemy did not abandon the intention to expel our units from the bridges on the left bank of the Dnieper and within 24 hours made two attempts to attack the positions of our troops.
During the day, the Defense Forces aviation carried out strikes in 11 areas where personnel were concentrated and the anti-aircraft missile system of the invaders. Units of the missile forces hit three areas of personnel concentration, two areas of artillery firing positions, an ammunition train, and two enemy radar stations.
We remind you that since October 2023, the Russians have been constantly storming Avdeevka. During this time, the enemy lost tens of thousands of military personnel killed and wounded and hundreds of armored vehicles.
The defense of Avdeevka was reinforced by the 3rd separate assault brigade. Its fighters are said to have inflicted “critical losses” on two Russian brigades.
