Three aircraft were involved in mid-air accidents, but were able to return to their departure airports. Another plane hit the runway with its tail and was grounded.
Russian airlines, which due to sanctions cannot buy spare parts and aircraft repairs, are experiencing increasing technical problems. On Thursday, February 15, four planes of Russian carriers encountered damages while flying, reports The Moscow Times.
In particular, a Sukhoi Superjet 100 of Rossiya Airlines made an emergency landing at Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport. The left engine of the airliner, flying to St. Petersburg, failed after taking off from Vnukovo at a height of 2.5 km. The crew reported the problem on the ground, then made the decision to return to the airport. At first, the aircraft commander decided to return to the departure airport after running out of fuel, but after 15 minutes he changed his decision and reportedly left for an alternative airport in Sheremetyevo.
Two other aircraft incidents occurred with Azimut and Alrosa airlines, both returning to their departure airport. The first flew from Nizhnevartovsk to Mineralnye Vody and, due to a technical malfunction, circled over Megion for several hours, running out of fuel. On Thursday morning, Alrosa Airlines Boeing-737, flying to Novosibirsk – Neryungri (Yakutia), also returned due to technical reasons.
On February 15, the Pobeda Boeing 737-800, flying from Moscow to Stavropol, hit the runway with its tail. The plane did not reach its destination; due to fog in Stavropol, it went to an alternate airport in Mineralnye Vody. The plane was suspended from flights.
Let’s recall that at the end of January, four aviation incidents occurred at one of the largest private airlines in Russia, S7 Airlines. In all cases, there was an engine surge, during which the engine thrust decreased.
And on January 15, two emergencies occurred. These cases were added to the incidents on January 12, when Pobeda Airlines suffered three breakdowns in six hours.
