Beijing claims that Washington is “adding fuel to the fire” with its military support for Kyiv during the war.
The United States of America must stop supplying Ukraine with arms. This is what China’s permanent representative to the UN Zhang Jun said at a Security Council meeting dedicated to the issue of Ukraine, Newsweek reports.
“Some countries should immediately stop adding fuel to the fire and not undermine the diplomatic efforts of the international community,” said a Chinese diplomat.
The Chinese side’s statement comes amid reports that Kremlin representatives are interested in a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
China’s UN representative insisted that the Minsk agreement reached in 2014 should be followed.
“Unfortunately, most of the provisions of the agreement have not yet been implemented, and full-scale fighting eventually broke out,” Zhang Jun added.
According to him, the security of a country should not be ensured at the expense of other countries, and regional security cannot be ensured by strengthening or further expanding military groups.
The Chinese diplomat also called on NATO to “suspend threats.”
“NATO should stick to dialogue and consultation to resolve disputes and jointly pursue a political settlement, instead of pressure, slander and unilateral sanctions, not to mention the use of force,” said said Zhang.
Let’s recall that in November 2024 it became known that Russia was negotiating with China on the construction of an underwater tunnel through the Kerch Strait to Crimea.
