Having unleashed war on Ukraine, Russia is “leading the fight for a better future for the world,” Sergei Lavrov said.
The aggressor country Russia is said to be open to a political and diplomatic settlement of the situation around Ukraine, but so far does not see “serious proposals.” This statement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during government time in the State Duma on Wednesday, February 14.
“Those who declared war on us have no serious proposals, and because of their unwillingness to consider our interests or the realities of the world, it is, of course, not possible to have an agreement at the negotiating table .the options are not visible,” the minister said.
He assured that Russia is open to a political and diplomatic settlement of the situation around Ukraine.
“As the President (Vladimir Putin – ed.) stressed in an interview with Tucker Carlson, we remain open to a political and diplomatic agreement based on consideration of our legitimate interests, based on consideration of the facts developed in for many years and led to the current situation,” he told Lavrov.
He also expressed the opinion that Russia “is at the forefront of the fight for a better future for the world.”
“The choice made by the president of the country, with the support of the political class and the entire people, to defend the vital interests of Russia, has put our country – without exaggeration – at the forefront of the fight for a better future for the whole world,” said the minister.
As you know, the aggressor country Russia regularly asks to start negotiations with Ukraine, but “taking new facts into account.”
In turn, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that now is a “bad moment” for negotiations with Russia. The head of state is ready for a long war.
