John Kirby will be assistant to the president and White House national security adviser.
The White House’s top national security spokesman, John Kirby, has a new job. He will be an assistant to the president and the White House’s national security adviser, Reuters reports.
It was noted that Kirby, who previously served as Speaker of the Pentagon and State Department, will receive a new title – White House National Security Advisor.
He will also be promoted from deputy assistant to assistant to the president, according to an anonymous agency official. He is responsible for coordinating national security communications across agencies.
As part of the new structure, he will hire a small staff to help him synchronize the administration’s national security messaging in addition to day-to-day press work.
Kirby is one of the most visible faces of President Biden’s White House, often holding joint briefings with press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on national security coverage, particularly after the October 7 Hamas attack in Israel and the subsequent Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip.
His appearance in the briefing room will continue, the official said.
We remind you that Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin was hospitalized again on Saturday.
